Privacy
Texas Power Plan is read-only. It stores no personal data and no usage numbers. It has no accounts, and it never switches anyone's plan.
Plan data comes from public sources, including Power to Choose and each plan's Electricity Facts Label, and it may be out of date. Confirm the plan on the provider's site before you sign up.
A ZIP code in a question is used only to fetch public plan data for that ZIP and to label the answer. It is not written to server logs. On disk it shows up only as a salted hash in a cache file name: the public listing (reused for a day, or up to seven days if a refresh fails) and the ZIP's wires company (up to thirty days). Those files do not contain the ZIP. Usage numbers are never stored.
A short-lived cache on the server holds public plan listings and parsed Electricity Facts Labels. It does not hold names, accounts, or the usage numbers from a question. Reminder dates are calculated and returned. Nothing is scheduled, and no email is sent.
